Partitions of AG(4, 3) into maximal caps

چکیده
In a geometry, a maximal cap is a collection of points of largest size no three of which are collinear. In AG(4, 3), maximal caps contain 20 points; the 81 points of AG(4, 3) can be partitioned into 4 mutually disjoint maximal caps together with a single point P , where every pair of points that makes a line with P lies entirely inside one of those caps. The caps in a partition can be paired up so that both pairs are either in exactly one partition or they are both in two different partitions. This difference determines the two equivalence classes of partitions of AG(4, 3) under the action by affine transformations. © 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

On Caps and Cap Partitions of Galois Projective Spaces
Let PG(N, q) be the projective space of dimension N over the finite field GF (q). A k–cap K in PG(N, q) is a set of k points, no three of which are collinear [16], and a k–cap is called complete if it is maximal with respect to set–theoretic inclusion. The maximum value of k for which there exists a k–cap in PG(N, q) is denoted by m2(N, q). This number m2(N, q) is only known, for arbitrary q, w...
متن کاملSequences in abelian groups G of odd order without zero-sum subsequences of length exp ( G )
We present a new construction for sequences in the finite abelian group C n without zero-sum subsequences of length n, for odd n. This construction improves the maximal known cardinality of such sequences for r > 4 and leads to simpler examples for r > 2. Moreover we explore a link to ternary affine caps and prove that the size of the second largest complete caps in AG(5, 3) is 42.
متن کاملLarge caps in projective Galois spaces
If the underlying field is F2, the answer is easy: AG(n,2) is itself a cap of 2n points and it forms up to projective equivalence the unique largest cap in PG(n,2). Assume therefore we work in PG(n,q) or AG(n,q) for q > 2. The canonical models for caps are quadrics of Witt index 1. They yield (q+1)-caps in AG(2,q) (and in PG(2,q)) and obviously these ovals are maximal for odd q. In odd characte...
متن کاملGeneralized Pellegrino caps
A cap in a projective or affine geometry is a set of points with the property that no line meets the set in more than two points. Barwick, et al. (Conics and caps. J. Geom., 100:15–28, 2011) provide a construction of caps in PG(4, q) by “lifting” arbitrary caps of PG(2, q2), such as conics. In this article, we extend this construction by considering when the union of two or more conics in AG(2,...

The terminology and notation used in this paper are introduced in the following papers: [1], [2], [3], [4], and [5]. In this paper Y is a non empty set. The following propositions are true: (1) Let a be an element of BVF(Y ), G be a subset of PARTITIONS(Y ), and A, B, C be partitions of Y . Suppose G is a coordinate and G = {A, B,C} and A 6= B and B 6= C and C 6= A. Then ¬∃∃a,AG,BG ⋐ ¬∃∃a,BG,AG...
